Suresh Shanmugham is senior vice president for Silicon Valley Bank's global financial services group, which is responsible for the company's international strategy and operations. Based in California, Shanmugham oversees and manages the SVB India Advisors Pvt. Ltd team, Silicon Valley Bank's operation in Bangalore, India.

Shanmugham has extensive expertise and venture capital investing experience in the information technology and communications industries. Prior to joining Silicon Valley Bank, Shanmugham was a partner at Boston Millennia Partners, an early stage venture capital firm, where he was one of the founding members of the firm. From 1994 to 1997, he served as an associate, and then a principal at Boston Capital Ventures.

He was previously with McKinsey & Company, an international management consulting firm, where he was in the corporate finance practice and garnered significant experience with mergers and acquisitions.

Throughout his career he has worked closely with several technology companies, including Entigo, Inc., Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation, Tropos Networks, Yantra Corporation (NYSE: SBC), netGenesis (NASDAQ: SPSS), Verio, Inc./NTT Communications, Inc. (NYSE: NTT) and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston chapter of the Association of Corporate Growth.

Shanmugham is a frequent speaker on the topics of venture capital and entrepreneurship and is a charter member of TiE - Boston, a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals.

Shanmugham earned a bachelor's degree summa cum laude in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
